Golden Gate Objectivists Free Books for Teachers Project -
Bring Ayn Rand's novels to high school students in the Bay Area

Since 2002, the Ayn Rand Institute (ARI) has helped students across America get introduced to Ayn Rand's ideas by offering free copies of Anthem and The Fountainhead to high school English teachers. Individual donors can contribute general funds - or sponsor a specific region. You can read more about this program on ARI's web site, at www.aynrand.org/freebooks .

Six counties in the Bay Area still require funding - San Francisco, San Mateo, Contra Costa, Solano, Sonoma and Monterey. The total cost to fund the ARI book project in these counties is $11,000 – click here for details (PDF File) .

You can help bring Ayn Rand's books to students in the Bay Area – and benefit from an offer to double your contribution: a fellow Golden Gate Objectivist has generously offered to match, dollar for dollar, any funds contributed to the ARI book project for all six counties (up to required $11,000).

When you contribute through this program, we will fund the counties in the order mentioned above. This will allow us to track progress on the project, and to celebrate the completion of a county. Of course, if you'd like your contribution to go towards a specific county, we will match your funding for that specific county. Please advise us and ARI of this request.

You have two options to contribute to this campaign:

  1. Via check. Send a check to ARI in the amount you wish to contribute. Make your check payable to ARI – and note 'Golden Gate Free Books Project' in the memo section. ARI’s address is:
    The Ayn Rand Institute,
    2121 Alton Parkway, Suite #250
    Irvine, CA 92606
You can download a form from ARI's web site to help track your contribution and to ensure you receive a tax receipt. To print out this form, click here .
  2. Online, via credit card. You can also conveniently contribute to ARI online. ARI's electronic contribution form is located at this link on ARI's web site.
To make sure your funds are matched, mark your contribution as a 'joint contribution' between yourself and 'Golden Gate Free Books Project.'

Finally, let us know about your contribution. Please e-mail us at:

goldengateobjectivists@yahoo.com

Include your name and the amount of your contribution. This will assist us in tracking contributions for the project and ensuring that matching funds are applied appropriately. We will also add you to our mailing list and keep you posted on our projects. (If you do not want to be on our mailing list, just let us know, and we will of course respect your wishes.)

Thank you for helping bring rational ideas to young minds in the Golden Gate area!
